2016 - We were two partners, driven by one obsession: “Can we actually turn our passion for cinema into a real career?”
At the time, the digital landscape was shifting. We were excited just to work in Full HD, and the ambition was raw. But we had a second, deeper challenge: proving that you don't need to be based in Paris to produce world-class, high-end content.
We chose to build our dream here, in Annecy. Why? Because this territory is a hidden gem. Between the shores of Lake Geneva (Arc lémanique) and our mountains, we have access to breathtaking natural backdrops and extraordinary local talent. We wanted to prove that creative excellence has no geographic boundaries.
Today, 10 years later, it seems history has proven us right. But what a journey it has been...
Looking back brings a wave of nostalgia. We still remember our early days at the Papeteries (Image Factory), cramped in a tiny 17sqm office. It was our laboratory, our sanctuary.
Since then, everything has scaled up:
We won’t just celebrate the wins without telling the whole truth: entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster. There were magical moments—those flashes of grace on set where you experience something truly incredible. But there were also moments of doubt, growing pains, HR challenges, business crises, and the loss of key clients. These struggles are what forged us.
A word from Maël, Founder:
"I’m honestly moved looking at how far we’ve come. As a business owner, I never dared to imagine L’Imagerie would last 10 years: it’s wild. Every year has been a lesson. I’m lucky to have built my life around what stimulates and challenges me daily. Today, even with the uncertainties of the future and the rise of Generative AI, I remain positive. As long as the team stays tight, and as long as we remain excited by the people we meet and the stories we tell, the future looks fantastic."
If this story is a success, it’s thanks to you. To our clients who trusted us when we were just two guys in a small room, and to those who join us today. Your high standards are what make our job so fascinating and push us to improve every single day.
Thank you for following us through these first 10 years. The next chapter? We’re already writing it.
See you in 2036?
