Calm Animal Setups for Royal Canin

Shooting with animals means quickly throwing the rigid rules of traditional cinema out the window to focus entirely on on-field adaptation. When agency Infostrates brought Imagerie Films on board for a three-day shoot to enrich Royal Canin's visual database, our team deployed a substantial technical setup. The mission required capturing spontaneous photo and video loops of multiple dog and cat breeds across large indoor sets and a local veterinary clinic, all while building a reassuring atmosphere to keep the animals calm.

Instead of a lightweight configuration, lighting up these spacious decors required a heavy technical deployment. Our technicians brought in a massive lighting package to evenly illuminate the backgrounds, positioning the fixtures to maintain a soft halo in the top right corner of the frame to safeguard clean space for the client's future logo integration. Operating a busy set with heavy gear meant we had to manage the environment carefully, using wireless intercom headsets to cut out loud voice directions and prevent spooking our four-legged talent.

For the camera package, we relied on advanced tracking and real-time animal eye autofocus systems to lock onto the subjects. This technology allowed our operators to maintain sharp focus on muzzles and feeding bowls, even when tracking erratic movements across the illuminated spaces. The camera crew spent three days working at animal eye level, capturing raw, high-resolution textures without forcing any performance.

The daily schedule obviously integrated frequent rest periods, dedicated quiet rooms, and targeted rewards to guide natural actions. Managing this specific production workflow allowed us to maintain quiet, controlled spaces, ensuring a steady rhythm where the dogs and cats could move comfortably.
