On June 5, the L'Imagerie Films team took part in a half-day "Gestures and Misconceptions" training session led by WHERGO, specialists in the prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs).
This training reflects our commitment to putting the well-being of our team at the heart of everything we do. It is part of our ongoing efforts to improve working conditions, workplace ergonomics and the prevention of occupational health risks.
Working in the audiovisual industry places daily physical demands on the body. Long hours at a workstation, filming on location, handling equipment and post-production activities can all contribute to musculoskeletal disorders if they are not supported by good ergonomic practices.
During the session, the instructor from WHERGO introduced us to an innovative approach based on the latest research in biomechanics and neuroscience. Rather than searching for the so-called "perfect posture", the training focused on understanding the real mechanisms behind pain and learning how to reduce everyday risk factors.
We explored the main causes of neck and shoulder pain, trapezius tension, shoulder and elbow tendinopathies, carpal tunnel syndrome and lower back pain, while learning how to better adapt our workstations and daily habits.
The session combined scientific demonstrations, muscle activity measurements using EMG technology and practical compensation exercises.
Throughout the morning, our team learned how to:
One of the key takeaways from the session was that there is no single "correct" posture. Effective prevention comes from changing positions regularly, adapting the work environment and adopting simple habits that help reduce muscular tension over time.
At L'Imagerie Films, we believe that the quality of our productions also depends on the health, comfort and well-being of our team.
This training strengthens the actions we take to provide a working environment that is safe, ergonomic and adapted to the realities of our audiovisual professions.
