The Challenge
Van Cleef & Arpels, a client we've worked with for nearly seven years, asked us for a film on the art of enamelling. The brief called for restraint above everything else: no staging, no artifice, just the craft itself. The challenge was to make a film elegant enough for the Maison while staying almost entirely out of the way of the work it was documenting.
Our Approach
We shot close to raw sound, letting the real noises of the workshop carry most of the film, with only a light musical layer underneath. Long, contemplative shots let each gesture breathe: this is a craft built on patience and precision, and the pacing of the film needed to reflect that rather than rush past it. The result was intended primarily for internal use, to show teams across the Maison what the work of enamelling actually looks like.
